Presents

Our traditional German Christmas: We went to mass in the afternoon. I don't speak German, but despite the language barrier, it was a fun service because it was especially for children. There was a nice kid's presentation of the nativity scene.

After mass, we waited patiently in the house until the bell rang, which meant that St. Nic had come and the tree was decorated. All the children opened presents, and the adults did a gift exchange. Everybody ate several Christmas cookies, which Herwig's mom baked. Andy and I contributed with some good 'ol chocolate chip cookies.

After presents, we had dinner, which was bread, cheese, some cold meat and some cold herring. Quite a bit different from the Christmas dinner I'm used to, but a great experience none the less.
